The purpose of this trial established in Belgium over two years was to study in detail the performance of applying Humifirst® on permanent English rye-grass grassland.
The results in figure 1 show an increase in the dry matter yield in the five cuts (3 in 2003 and 2 in 2004) of the grassland after applying Humifirst in the beginning of 2003. The fact that the increase exceeded 20% in some cases should be highlighted.
The study further revealed that Humifirst improves the assimilation of nutrients from the soil; in this way, the first cut in comparison with the control shows an increase in the assimilation of phosphorous (4%), calcium (33%) and magnesium (24%), and of other micro-nutrients such as copper (22%) and iron (39%), amongst others.
Trial conditions • Date: 2003 and 2004. • Crop: Permanent grassland: English rye-grass. • Parameters assessed: Yield (fresh and dry weight). Macro-nutrient and micro-nutrient contents.
