Humifirst®: Maximum profitability for potatoes – C.R.A. Gembloux, Belgium -

- Centre de Recherches Agronomiques de Gembloux, Gembloux 2002 -

The following trial, carried out in Belgium by the agronomy research centre of Gembloux, assessed the performance of Humifirst® in terms of yield, quality of tubers and assimilation of nutrients by potato crops.

The results in figure 1 show that in the Merit variety, Humifirst significantly increased the number of tubers that could be commercialised by 19% and the yield by 24%.

Furthermore, this study proved that the product significantly increases the assimilation of nutrients such as: nitrogen (19%), phosphorous (30%), potassium (24%), calcium (20%), magnesium (19%), iron (33%), manganese (37%), zinc (43%) and copper (68%). The reduction in the accumulation of nitrates and the improvement in tuber formation are worth noting due to the 30% increase in the assimilation of phosphorous.
